The Hazlitt Theatre - Family Shows in Maidstone, Kent.

The Hazlitt Theatre presents an eclectic mix of entertainment for all the family, from the music of Barbara Dickson in Concert and The Bowie Experience to the fresh comedy of Reginald D Hunter and Angela Barnes. With two performance spaces and varied full programme the Hazlitt Theatre and Exchange Studio offers something for everyone.

The Hazlitt Theatre is a traditional proscenium arch and intimate auditorium, making it the perfect venue for drama, family shows, dance, comedy, music and variety.

The theatre has a licensed bar for the Mums & Dads and refreshment facilities with seating for up to 353 people, an orchestra pit, fly tower, film screen and full lighting & sound facilities, and a large scene dock for storage of scenery.

There is a second professional performance space, the Exchange Studio, complete with brand new tiered seating for 135, this is the oldest part of the building and formerly known as the Corn Exchange.

The Exchange Studio is part of the Hazlitt Theatre venue and is in the center of Maidstone and has its own dedicated bar, is wheelchair accessible and has full theatre sound and lighting. The Exchange is a very flexible venue and it is perfect for intimate performances.

The Hazlitt Theatre & The Exchange Studio offer many varied shows for families such as Dear Zoo, Alice in Wonderland, CBeebies Bing, Julia Donaldson shows, Pop Divas Live, not to mention the amazing star studded annual Pantomimes they have for the families that want to get into the full swing of Christmas spirit - Oh yes they do!

If it is a night out without the kids you are looking for then The Hazlitt also bring you a wide range of shows to choose from, such as Comedians like Katherine Ryan, Reginald D Hunter, Russell Kane, Shappi Khorsandi, or if music is your thing there are plenty of tribute acts, you can see some opera or even the Ballet perhaps … The choice is endless!

If your child is interested in performing, then maybe joining the Hazlitt Youth Theatre would be a good idea! Suitable for children aged between 6 - 18 years old, the weekly workshops include Singing lessons and dance classes and also available throughout the year are holiday workshops, summer shows, a yearly musical, and magical Christmas shows.
