A Great place for Couples to Stay in Brighton.
Read MoreI think it is pretty common that the every day stresses and strains that life brings can often get in the way of remembering who you are as a couple, you know, those people which have names that your friend’s call you by, not Mum & Dad, not the cleaner, the chef, the taxi drivers, bill payers … just plain and simple old you!
I have been with my husband for quite some time now and know that it can be so easy to forget the care free fun that you used to have before the kids were a part of your responsible life, which is why we have made sure that we do everything possible to get away for a night or two once, or if we are really lucky, sometimes twice per year without the children! (Thanks to my husband’s wonderful family)
I am really lucky because my other half is literally my best pal, if we didn’t have children I think we would have got up to all kinds of mischief over the years, before the kids, we were the kids! and as soon as we get away, as in as soon as we are in the car driving away from our house, the silly behavior begins and we immediately remember why we are best friends.
But the time together doesn’t just remind us who we are, it gives us a chance to re-join forces, much to the kids disappointment! Just two nights away and we come back stronger than ever and ready to challenge parenthood again … as a team!
For any couple about to have children this is my advice … Maybe you won’t want to leave your baby in the first year, we didn’t, some parents do, some don’t, there are no rules here. But, as soon as you are ready, if you are lucky enough to get the chance, then get away for two nights, even if it is just once per year. Use your anniversary as an excuse, we do! And it doesn’t even have to be expensive either, we have booked Premier Inns near nice towns when money has been tight.
You will not believe the power two nights away can bring to your relationship. Children need stability, they need happiness around them, they need consistency. Time together is so important, if Mum and Dad are happy, then the whole family is too.
Here, I thought I could share with you the little trips we take without the kids and tell you about the gems we find, some breaks are in the UK and some are abroad, (depending on how big the birthday is!) some will be expensive & some will be bargains!
I cannot guarantee you would have the same experience, after all every personality is different and we may not like the same things, but I can give you my experiences and thoughts and it may just give you some inspiration to book something similar if not the same. I hope it helps & I hope you like our reviews of our mini breaks without the kids.
