Diggerland Kent - Review and Vlog!

Diggerland Kent - Our Family Review & Vlog!

What is Diggerland Kent Like?

It was a very sunny, but windy day in the Easter holidays and as we were invited to go to Diggerland near Rochester in Kent, we thought this was the perfect day to go.

It was very much a family affair, our six year old boy took along myself (Mummy), Daddy & Grandma, who despite living just 15 minutes away has strangely never been before.

I can’t believe it, it’s been here years. I thought it was just a field with a few diggers in it!
— Grandma

I’ve already been here a couple of times with my son, so this time it was really nice to watch Daddy & son play with the big toys and Grandma operate the JCB’s. And play we all did!!

We started on the JCB’s where you actually get to operate them yourself and knock over the skittles or play hook a duck. It was quite funny watching the concentration on Grandma’s face, while our lad shouted instructions at her.

We then moved on to the diggers where daddy helped transport the mounds of dirt. - Boys and their toys definitely fits the bill here!

Then came the brilliant Dig-a-round, which is a merry go round. This is much faster than it looks and leaves you feeling quite giddy as we all found out when we started spinning backwards!

Our son then went on to the go-Karts, on Ground Shuttle, which is a JCB that drives you around a bumpy field, high in the air with around 14 other people and our son also got to drive a huge JCB with us as passengers! ... Supervised of course, but still, not scary at all!!

We took a break for our packed lunch and grabbed a coffee from the Diggerland cafe, which offers a broad range of food and drinks and isn’t too expensive at all!

We then finished our day with some bumper cars & very stupidly thought ‘Spin Dizzy’ was a good idea after eating our food. It wasn’t!!

This is a high, fast, spinning ride and leaves you feeling quite sick! The kids however seemed to enjoy it very much, all getting off at the end, smiling, with their parents slowly walking behind, a funny shade of green looking like they’re not sure what’s just happened to them! ... This ride is a must, definitely the highlight of the day ... but maybe before lunch would be a much better idea!

What Age is Diggerland Kent Suitable For?

It doesn’t matter if you have a boy or girl, all children and adults will Love Diggerland Kent, it is a great family day out. I would say that if your child is anywhere between 3.5 - 8 years old, then they would enjoy it too and would be a great age to go. Saying this, a teen would equally love it if they have younger children to take and use as an excuse to play too!

How Long do you Spend at Diggerland Kent?

It really depends. I have met a friend there before, who lives an hour away. We have been friends for many, many years so have much to catch up on! We both have boys the same age and it rained on and off all day. We found it easy to spend five hours there, but we made good use of the indoor play area and was happy to sit, stuffing cake in our faces while the boys played.

This time, the weather was dry and it wasn’t too busy. We arrived at noon and left at around 4pm. We managed to go on everything we wanted to, stopped for a lunch break and that was plenty of time for us. However, in the height of the summer, I cannot comment on how long is recommended I am sorry to say. I would say aiming for a long afternoon is ideal.

Should we go to Diggerland Kent on a Rainy Day?

It is a really good idea not to go on a rainy day, as all of the rides are outside and there isn’t much shelter, however Diggerland Kent also has an indoor soft play for the kids and the cafe has some good cake if you go on a day where the weather is changeable.
